Lauriston Castle was a couple of minutes drive away from where we were staying. It is an imposing building with towers and turrets straight out of an Edwardian fairy tale and dates as far back as the 16th century. The building wasn't that far away from a housing estate and my other half decided he would protect the car by staying with it  'just in case' while he left his wife to wander around a haunted house alone?

It is documented that in 1926 someone had heard ghostly footsteps in the house.

Mary King's ghost fest events have taken places here.
