The Enfield Poltergeist was the name given to claims of poltergeist activity at a council house in Brimsdown, Enfield, England from 1977-1979.[1] Although psychical researchers such as Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair declared some of the phenomena genuine, the case is considered to be a hoax by magicians and skeptics - Source wikipedia

Quite disappointed in this first episode, been looking forward to watching the Enfield Haunting starring Timothy Spall. This post kind of sums up things.....
A rubbish adaptation of the book and events. The makers of this travesty added extra things that never happened, such as the old man screaming in the photo, him grabbing Janet and both girls them beginning their menstrual cycle virtually on the same day. They altered the order of experiences and had Playfair meeting Grosse for the first time at the house instead of at an SPR meeting. Also, the house looked nothing like 284 Green Street. Spall's version of Grosse was too sedate and his voice was all wrong. Maurice was an upbeat character with a higher pitched, nasal voice. I am a purist and highly pedantic. I like detail, not crowd-pleasing shite. This show insulted my intelligence, assaulted my sensibilities and bored me to tears. I switched it off after suffering 20 minutes of pure drivel. Just watch "Interview with the Poltergeist" instead if, like me, you prefer facts instead of this commercialised rubbish. - James Padmore
